KARE-KARE

A traditional Pinoy food and a party favorite. It may be beef or pork, mixed with vegetables and thickened peanut gravy. Another highlight of this dish is its combination with shrimp paste, hot chili, and calamansi. Pinoy delicacy at its best!

INGREDIENTS:
Pork or beef
Garlic
Onion
Asuete for coloring
Peanut butter
Fish sauce
Banana heart
Eggplant
Petchay
String beans
Salt
Water
Red chili
Calamansi
Shrimp paste

DIRECTIONS:
1. Soak the asuete in hot water for few minutes to release its color. Filter then set aside now as annatto wster.
2. Sauté the meat in garlic and onion.
3. Add salt and water. Bring to boil then mix the annatto water.
4. While waiting for the meat to become tender, start preparing the veggies.
5. Cut and boil the banana heart, string beans, eggplant, and petchay. Drain then set aside.
6. Now put the peanut butter with the boiling meat. Mix well.
7. When the meat is tender, put all the boiled vegetables. Mix well. Simmer for few minutes.
8. Serve with the combination of red chili, calamansi, and shrimp paste.

MANGA’T BAGOONG (GREEN MANGO AND SHRIMP PASTE )

This combination is very popular in the Philippines. Unthinkable to others, but surely a great pinoy food experience.

INGREDIENTS:
Green mangoes
Shrimp paste (raw)
Garlic
Vinegar
Sugar
Oyster sauce
Ketsup
Water
Cooking oil

DIRECTIONS:
1. Cook the raw shrimp paste by sauteing.
2. Saute garlic with the raw shrimp paste.
3. Add vinegar, oyster sauce, ketsup and sugar. Water is optional.
4. Mix well then simmer for minutes until cooked. Put it in a saucer.
5. Peel and slice the green mangoes. Then serve with the shrimp paste.

HARD BOILED CRABS

Crabs are always special in many occassions. But its rich taste can be enjoyed even to a simple boiling type of cooking.

INGREDIENTS:
Crab
Salt
Water
Vinegar
Fish sauce

DIRECTIONS:
1. Steam the crab to die.
2. Remove the crab from steam then wash and clean.
3. Put water and salt to a casserole then boil until cooked.
4. Mix vinegar and fish sauce in a cup as dip.
5. Arrange crabs on a plate with the mixture dip then serve.

MANGO SHAKE

Mango season is the best time to make refreshing milkshakes . Cool and relax, just beat the heat. There are different types and sizes. Green or ripe, shake it, then share.

INGREDIENTS:
Mango
Sugar
Ice
Water
Milk

DIRECTIONS:
1. Mix mango with the ice, milk, sugar, and water.
2. Blend and serve.

MILKFISH/ ROUND SCAD SARCIADO

Fried fish can be matched with different soups and vegetables. But to convert it more as the main course, this dish is one of the most common.

INGREDIENTS:
Milkfish or Round Scad
Onion
Tomato
Garlic
Eggs
Salt
Cooking oil
Water

DIRECTIONS:
1. Fry the fish then set aside.
2. Saute garlic, onion, and tomatoes.
3. Add salt and water.
4. Bring to boil until it melt.
5. Put the fried fish then let it simmer for few minutes to soften.
6. Before turning off the fire, pour the scrumbled eggs. Stir then serve.
